Eleonora Costagliola is a PhD student in Mechanics, Manufacturing, Management, and Aerospace Innovation at the University of Palermo. She holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, awarded cum laude.
Building on her thesis work conducted at IRCCS ISMETT, Eleonora aims to develop a visualization protocol for minimally invasive cardiovascular device implantation using Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). By enabling preoperative simulation of procedures, this technology enhances surgical planning and optimizes the use of time and resources, ultimately benefiting both patients and healthcare professionals.
Her research is expected to reduce morbidity associated with percutaneous treatments in complex anatomies, improve patient safety, and support more effective clinical decision-making
